SERVER REBOOTS
It is sometimes necessary to hard reboot a server. This involves either shutting down the system and restarting or performing a hard reset.
There are many reasons that a server may need rebooted. These include but are not limited to:
- After a software update.
- After a configuration change.
- After the installation of new software.
- Following a service crash or malfunction.
- Following a system lock scenario.
Every attempt will be made to perform maintenance outside of busy periods. However there may be critical updates which affect server security. These will be applied as soon as possible.
When a server is rebooted this will mean that all services on that server will become unavailable.
A reboot generally takes no longer than 10 minutes to complete, possibly less, depending on the number and complexity of services on the particular server.
If you find that a service is unavailable then please check this website. If there is no information check the service again after 15 minutes. If it is still unavailable then check this website again for further infomation.
Where a sever is being rebooted and downtime is less than 15 minutes this will not be reported on Network Status.
